The composition of this painting is unusual for Sivard, but like most of his work, this has a narrative quality: it tells a story. The only documentation available for this work, which was part of the Margaret Biddle collection in Paris, is this poor-quality slide. So I've used it to demonstrate the wonderful restoration possibilities of image-editing tools. Most of the images presented in this Gallery are taken from 35mm slides which Sivard made to document his work, and some of the slides are almost 60 years old. When I came across them they were in a deteriorating state and stored haphazardly. With digital tools like Photoshop quite a bit of the original detail and color can be restored. This documentary slide is from 1953.
