This painting is another from the successful 'Artists in Their Studios' series. In his work as Director of Exhibits for the USIA Sivard had the responsibility for selecting representative elements of contemporary American culture to be exhibited abroad. Bob had personal contact with many of the artists he exhibited.
He was intimately familiar with current fine art and advertising trends, for instance, and the corresponding sections of the exhibits he designed often featured work by contemporary artists like Stuart Davis. The exhibits were very popular in Russia where, due to censorship, there was not much access to American art or music.
The black script in the painting reads "The Emerging Continuity".
